Went house shopping with Lindzy and my agent Taj today. We went and looked at 7 different places, some high rises, two three-highs, and one villa. High rises are basically very tall apartment buildings. Here, they call apartments- flats. They're much larger than apartments in the States. Three-highs are a building with three very large flats in it. They have private parking, surrounded by a large wall for privacy(/protection), and are generally more peaceful than an apartment building. Then there are villas. Villas are basically singular large private home surrounded by a privacy wall. Villas have private parking, and usually a pool. The housing options here in bahrain are unlimited, and are very, very nice. I loved 6 out of the 7 I looked at. And my agent had tons more to show me, but i was more eager to get moved out soon, so 7 was enough for me to see.
After we looked at the houses, Taj took Lindzy and I out to lunch at a hidden restaurant. It had no sign, and was very hard to spot from the street. Taj said this place isn't known by many non-locals. It was called Coco's. It had really great italian food, for an affordable price. Taj ordered a sweet tea and it came out in an aluminum bucket with a straw. In bahrain, sweet tea is served with a small cup of what appears to be a clear liquid. I tried a sip of it once, it is like the sweetest water you will ever taste. It made me pucker. It wasn't thick like a syrup, but it was sweeter than your average sugar water. Apparently they're (cocos's) known for their teas. I had the best virgin Shirley temple of my life lol.
Taj drove us around and showed us Shwarma Alley, where you can get the best shwarmas. And a restaurant I want to go to, called don Vito's. It's a hookah lounge and restaurant. Taj and Lindzy both said it was great.
^^ive been going to starbucks too much
After this day, I am excited to explore more of bahrain, and try different foods, and experience this different culture
